About Me

I’m Karine Gélinas, a French Canadian artist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember, from my first drawing classes as a kid to years exploring makeup artistry and body painting. I’ve always been fascinated by transformation, by the way art can turn emotion into something visible and alive.

Since picking up a paintbrush in 2012, painting has become my language, a space where time disappears and I can connect deeply with myself and others. Each piece feels like a moment of freedom and truth, guided by intuition and discovery.

I work in mixed media, including pastels, charcoal, inks, acrylics, spray paint, markers, and oil paint, selecting materials to best express the mood, texture, and feeling of each piece.

For me, art is about beauty, honesty, and self-discovery. It helps me make sense of the world and, I hope, helps others connect with their own stories. As I continue to grow and travel, especially through Europe’s landscapes that endlessly inspire me, I chase the same spark: creating work that moves people and awakens something real.
